Highly Functioning is a short film about Maggie Tombelli, a witty and intelligent 15 year old with high functioning autism.
We follow the relationship of Maggie and her father John, who also has autism, as she attempts to get accepted for a scholarship to The Moore School for Gifted Children. Throughout the film we see how Maggie and John combat the trials and tribulations of life as a father and daughter duo through the lens of autism.
Highly Functioning shows the love, frustrations, and heartbreak that goes along with being on the spectrum in a harsh and judgemental world.
On September 27, 1951, my grandfather, Orrin Cecil Wood, found 12 year old Lonnie Jones, on his knees, with his throat slit from ear to ear. He became the prime suspect in the case, spent several weeks in jail, but ultimately was never charged with the crime. Over 60 years later, we still don’t know who killed Lonnie Jones.
